While the Trump Marina Casino Hotel is for sale, Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc. is in the middle of negotiations to build a new casino in Pacific Ocean, in Panama City. If the deal is closed, this would be the first time the Trump brand goes international, even though Trump has been busy developing projects not related to gaming such as luxury hotels, condos and golf courses around the world through the Trump Organization.
“One of the most important things about the Trump name is that it opens doors and allows us to promote the brand,” Mark Juliano, CEO of Trump Entertainment, commented. The casino will part of a $400 million development called Trump Ocean Club International Hotel & Tower, a resort in Panama’s Pacific coast.
The project is a joint venture between Trump Organization and K Group, a Panamanian company managed by Roger Khafif. The casino will have 2,787 to 3,251 square meters and a combination of slot machines and gaming tables. Although the name has not been decided yet, Juliano mentioned that it will include the famous Trump name.
The casino is expected to open in 2009 or 2010, by the time the hotels and condos are completed. The hotel complex, with 68 floors and shaped like a giant sailboat is Trump Organization’s first project in Central America.
