Magna Entertainment Corp. announced this week that Florida authorities have granted it a license to operate a slot machine hall at Gulfstream Park. The company expects to build the facilities and install 516 slots within the following weeks.
Gulfstream is one of several pari-mutuels in Broward County that were allowed to operate gambling venues due to an amendment approved by state voters in November 2004 and Broward voters in March 2005. According to the new legislation, the facilities can have up to 1,500 slot machines.
“This is an important day in the evolution of Gulfstream Park,” Gulfstream President and General Manager Paul Micucci said. “Adding slots at Gulfstream Park will position us to become a leader in the next generation of racing and gaming facilities.”
Pompano Park and Dania Jai-Ali have also applied for gambling licenses.
