A Mexican Casino will operate in Matamoros under aid

Since, up until now, the Municipality has not been informed about the next functioning of a casino in the frontier, the casino “Viva Las Vegas en Matamoros” will operate initially with an aid.

The American company Viva Las Vegas is planning to open this casino, that will have 100 slot machines and in which only dollar bets will be allowed, in the frontier city Matamoros. However, Jesús Collado Martinez, secretary of the Municipality, informed that they did not know about the opening of a casino in this area.

That employee added that in case of a casino opening, “the permission will have to the given by the Direction of Games and Draws, that depends of the Government Secretary”. Although Mexico does not authorize the operation of casinos, there are some establishments that are functioning with aids, as might be the case of the casino “Viva Las Vegas Matamoros”.

The American company plans to open a total of six casinos of this type in the Mexican side. The first one opened recently in the Nuevo Progreso town, in the Municipality of Rio Bravo, and has had a great acceptance of the public, because it receives from 450 to 700 players every day.
